Daniel and Jack walked out of the briefing room after everyone else had left.

"Jack, it's nothing to be ashamed about."

"Will you keep your voice down?" Jack responded through gritted teeth. "I don't want everyone to know."

Daniel smiled and shook his head gently. "I don't know what you're so worried about. C'mon. Let's go to my office."

Jack nodded in agreement and they headed to Daniel's office.

"Why haven't you asked for help before? Don't you think it's about time you learned?"

"I've tried before, but I haven't been very successful at it."

"And you've said that it's one of your favorite things. I would've thought that, you know," he shrugged his shoulders, "you might know how to handle them by now..." Daniel stopped at the look he received.

"Can we just get this over with?" He ran a frustrated hand through his hair. "I'm expected to know before we go to P3X....whatever," he finished with a wave of his hand.

"Not everyone has an affinity for it." Daniel said quickly with a laugh.

"Oh-fer-crying-out-loud! I tell you this in the strictest confidence and you laugh."

"Relax, Jack. It's just nice for once to be able to do something well that you can't."

A barely contained grumble came from Jack. "Let's just get this over with. I feel awkward enough as it is. Don't want to draw out the waiting time any longer that necessary."

Twenty minutes later.....

"Ok." Daniel picked his up. "Now watch me. I'll show you how to hold them." Daniel placed them into the proper positions. Moving them around, he smiled at Jack. "See, nothing to it."

Jack picked his up and tried to do as Daniel had done. "Sh--" He muttered softly as they fell from his hands. "I told you I wasn't good at this." He groused.

"Relax for a second. Breathe. Good. Now watch me. First, you put one in your hand like so." Daniel demonstrated while Jack followed as close as he could.

Once Jack felt he had it right, he looked up at Daniel for approval.

"That's good, Jack. Now we're halfway there."

"Ok, this isn't too bad. But what about the other one?" Jack asked while he looked at Daniel, eyebrow raised.

"Well, for the second one, you hold it like..." Daniel paused as he held Jack's hand and put it into place. "Like that. How's that feel?"

"Different. Now, here's the big question: How do I handle 'em?"

A smile lit Daniel's face. "It's easy. Just do it like this." He helped Jack move his for a moment. After a few seconds, he pulled his hand away from Jack's.

"Sh--" Jack cursed again as he lost his grip and they fell away.

"Take it easy, Jack. Remember: slow and easy is the key. Can't be in a hurry with these. Take your time and enjoy it. Now," he paused for a moment. "Let's try it again. Slow and easy, Jack. Slow and easy until you get used to it."

Jack picked up his set and repositioned them in his hand.

"Good. Good." Daniel said with a grin. Jack began moving them in his hands once again. "That's good. Nice rhythm, good motion."

A smile broke out on Jack's face. "Hey, this isn't so bad after all."

"Think you're ready for the real challenge?"

"And that would be?"

"Using them for what they're intended to be used on."

"Can't I just say that it's against my religion or something?"

"Nope. You asked for my help, and you're gonna get it. Just think of how highly respected you'll be. And this time, there won't be any social faux pas for you to commit."

Jack winced at Daniel's mention of that last diplomatic mission that had turned into a disaster. Jack was silent for a moment. Then, "Ok." He paled. "Where do we start?"

"You want the Chicken Chop Suey first? Or the Sweet and Sour Pork?" Daniel asked, pointing his chopsticks at each choice.
